Housing Information

Formerly the Houston Post Dispatch newspaper building and the original corporate headquarters for Shell Oil Company, the Houston Magnolia features 314 guestrooms and suites. The Magnolia is centrally located in the urban core of downtown Houston. It was voted Houston’s best hotel bar in 2007 and recently awarded by tripadvisor.com as Houston’s best hotel. Named to the National Register of Historic Places, the hotel is also located near all major corporate headquarters and just a few short blocks from Minute Maid Ballpark, the Houston Opera, George R. Brown Convention Center, The Toyota Center, Bayou Place, Houston Aquarium, and the Houston theater and entertainment district. The 22-story hotel features a roof top lap pool and Jacuzzi, Magnolia's signature club lounge with billiards room, a 24-hour fitness center, complimentary high speed Internet access in guest rooms and public areas, and downtown town car service.

Reservations

A block of rooms and preferred rates will be available through March 19, 2010 at https://resweb.passkey.com/go/vendorsummit10.  Hospitality Upgrade is offering a pre-conference rate of $129 for the night of 4/11. For the nights of 4/12 and 4/13, attendees will be charged the complete meeting package (CMP) rate of $359/per night plus state and local room taxes, which includes deluxe guestroom ac­commodations in a king bedroom, all private meal functions (two dinners, two breakfasts, one lunch and two cocktail receptions), breaks and drinks. Local attendees not staying at the Magnolia Hotel will be charged a day guest rate (see “Day Guests”).

Rooms can only be reserved through Hospitality Upgrade with a credit card guarantee. After March 19, reservations will be accepted on an as-available basis only, and rates may vary from the group rate.

Cancellations

Cancellations for room reservations received before March 19, 2010 will be without penalty. Cancellations received after March 19, 2010 will incur a penalty of 50 percent. Please note – you must notify Siegel Communications in writing of a cancellation before the first day of the conference (April 12) or we will be obliged to charge the full fee. Day Guests

Local attendees not staying at the Magnolia Hotel will be charged a day guest rate of $230/per day or $460 for the entire conference. This fee includes all private meal functions (two dinners, two breakfasts, one lunch and two cocktail receptions), breaks and drinks.

Planning Your Trip

If you are playing in the Golf Tournament, please plan to arrive at the hotel no later than 10:45 a.m. on Monday, April 12 to take advantage of our complimentary shuttle to the tournament. If you are not playing in the tournament, please arrive at the hotel no later than 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 12. We have a very special activity planned for all attendees during the Welcome Cocktail Reception. You won’t want to miss it.

At the conclusion of the conference on Wednesday, April 14, Hospitality Upgrade will provide complimentary shuttles back to George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and Houston Hobby (HOU) airports at 11:15 a.m. George Bush is located approximately 27 minutes from the Magnolia Hotel; Houston Hobby is located approximately 23 minutes from the Magnolia Hotel. Please plan your flights accordingly.

Airline Discount

American Airlines is offering Summit attendees 5 percent off all published fares for travel to/from Houston between the dates of April 8-17, 2010. Flights to/from George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and Houston Hobby (HOU) are both eligible for the discount. To take advantage of this discount, please visit www.aa.com and use code 1140AT. Ground Transportation


George Bush Intercontinental airport (IAH) is 27 minutes from the Magnolia Hotel. Taxis. Taxicab service from IAH is approximately $45-50 one way. Airport Shuttle. Houston Hobby
airport (HOU) is 23 minutes from the Magnolia Hotel. Taxis. Taxicab service from HOU is approximately $25-$30 one way. Airport Shuttle. Parking.
Valet parking is available at the Magnolia Hotel for a charge of $24 per night. Self parking is available a few blocks away with daily prices ranging from $9 to $20.

Weather/Dress


Average April weather in Houston is a high of 79 degrees and a low of 61 degrees. Dress for the conference, including the Gala dinner, is business casual. Dress for the Welcome Cocktail Reception and Barbecue is casual.
